The theatrical season of the JK Tyl Theater in Pilsen culminated in a magnificent performance of Verdi’s opera Aida in the Lochotín natural on 1 July. Three hundred people, including the orchestra, ballet and choir, participated in the open-air performance, and it was about the most extensive staging in the history of theatre in terms of production and organization, as stated by the director of the Pilsen opera ensemble and Stage Director, Tomáš Pilař.

A children’s ballet ensemble, dancers with fire, acrobats, and more than 100 extras and camels and two Frisian stallions also joined in.

In addition to the metal structures that the acrobats performed on, the scene was dominated by an impressive LED screen. The scenography of other spaces was complemented by video art by Petr Hloušek. The three-hour performance was also accompanied by a striking light design and pyrotechnic effects.
